Photo Collage Letter in Photoshop

Photo Collage Letter in Photoshop
In today’s Photoshop tutorial we’ll learn how to make a Letter/Alphabet/Alphabet photo collage template in Photoshop using Contact Sheet. We'll be using contact sheet to create a grid. Type your desire letter, load selection and then create layer mask. You can insert images using File-Place, Clipping Mask and resize it using Free Transform. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Create a Square Image

Choose a grey color for background. Create a new document (File> New or Ctrl+N). Enter the following information: Width 400 pixels, Height 400 pixels, Resolution 300 Pixels/Inch, Color Mode RGB color, and choose Background color for the Background contents. Click OK. Choose File>Save As (or Shift+Ctrl+S).

Step 2: Duplicate the square image

Duplicate the square image using Ctrl+C (copy) then Ctrl+V (Paste). I'll duplicate it 35 times to create a 6x6 contact sheet.

Step 3: Create a Contact Sheet

Choose File > Automate > Contact Sheet II. Choose your source folder (your square images). Choose Width, Height, and Resolution values for the contact sheet. Choose across first then type 6 for the Columns and Rows. Click OK. Please wait, while Photoshop opens each image and creates the contact sheet.

Step 4: Delete All Layer Mask

We'll be using clipping mask to insert images so we don’t need the layer mask created by Contact Sheet command. Right-click on every layer mask thumbnail then choose Delete Layer Mask.

Step 5: Group Layer

While holding down the Shift key, click the first and last square layer then choose Layer>Group Layers.

Step 6: Type a Letter

Type a Letter, click Commit transform then press Ctrl+T (Free Transform) to resize it.

Step 7: Load Selection

Ctrl+Click on the letter layer thumbnail to Load selection.

Step 8: Create Layer Mask

Select the Group layer then create layer mask by choosing Layer>Layer Mask>Reveal Selection.

Step 9: Duplicate Group

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate the Group layer if you want to create another letter. Load Selection and create layer mask.

Step 12: Save the Document for Template

Choose File>Save to save your document as a template.

Step 11: Insert Image

Activate/Select the square layer you want to insert an image. Go to File>Place to insert an image into the document then press Enter.

Step 12: Create Clipping Mask

Create clipping mask by choosing Layer>Create Clipping Mask.

Step 13: Resize The Image

Use Free Transform (Ctrl+T) to align and resize the image. Press Enter when you're done.

Step 14: Insert All Images

Repeat steps 10 to 12 to insert all of your images into the square layers.

Step 15: Add Color for the Background

Select the background layer and choose Edit>Fill to fill it with a color you like.

There you have it! Photo Collage Letter in Photoshop.

Step 16: Save Document

Choose File>Save or Ctrl+S to save your project file. Navigate to the folder where you want to store your project file. Type a name in the File Name text box and leave the default Photoshop (*.PSD;*.PDD) format. Click Save to store the project file.
