With Photoshop we can easily change the colors in the image or only on certain selection area by adjusting the hue/saturation slider in Image>Adjustment>Replace Color command. If you only want to change the color on a specific area in the picture we have to make the selection beforehand. Selecting at Photoshop does require patience. In this example, we will use Quick Selection Tool that makes the selection based on color similarity.
Step 1: Open The Photo
Open your photo by choosing File>Open Or you can just press Ctrl + O key. For this Photoshop tutorial, I'll use this image that I downloaded from Pixabay.
Step 2: Select The Tool To Make A Selection
I will use the Quick Selection Tool. Press the letter W on the keyboard or click the Quick Selection Tool icon in the Tool Panel. Then in the Options bar, select the Add To Selection (marked with a plus sign).
Click Add to selection icon.
Step 3: Make A Selection
Click on the parts of the photo. Quick Selection Tool will automatically make the selection based on color similarity. If you want to delete the unwanted parts of the selection, click on the selection while pressing the Alt key on the keyboard.
Step 4: Click Refine Edge on the Options Bar
Choose Select>Refine Edge, then adjust the Radius slider, Smooth and Feather to refine the selection, To New Layer. Then click the OK button.
Step 5: Change the color of the selection area
Choose Image>Adjustment>Replace color. In the Replace Color dialog box, drag the slider Fuzziness to position 200. Click the eyedropper icon marked with a plus (+). Then click on the selection area of your photo. Finally, slide the Hue slider to the right or left to change the color. Once you are satisfied with the color, click on the OK button.
