Steps to make a graffiti in GIMP:
1. Prepare the Font for graffiti.
For the purposes of this GIMP tutorial I will use a photo of a brick wall texture from Pixabay, while for the graffiti font I will take it from dafont.com. Go to the dafont.com website, download the graffiti font you want.
Once downloaded, extract the font if it is in the form of a zip file, then install it. How to install, using windows explorer, right-click on the font file and click Preview. In the preview window, click the Install button.
2. Open wall texture.
Download the photo of the wall texture for free on the pixabay.com site, then select File>Open to load it into GIMP.
3. Type the text.
Click the Text Tool icon.
Select the font type, font size, and font color.
Click on the canvas and type your text.
4. Add stroke to the text.
Go to Layer>Transparency>Add To Selection to make a selection. Then select Select>Grow, fill in the value 20, click OK. Click the foregorund color box and then choose a color for the stroke. I will choose red.
Create a new transparent layer and shift its position below the text layer. Make sure the new layer is active then select Edit>Fill with FG color. Now your graffiti has a red border.
5. Create a border for graffiti.
Make sure the selection is still active, select Select>Grow. This time fill in the value 100 and click OK.
Create a new transparent layer and then shift its position just above the brick wall layer. Next click the Blend Tool (gradient), click the foreground color box, I will choose blue. For the background I will choose white. Next click and drag on the graffiti letter to apply a gradient. Choose Select>None to remove the selection.
6. Merge the three layers.
Click the top layer then select Layer> Merge Down. Repeat selecting Layer>Merge Down, so all three layers are now one layer.
7. Apply Bump Map filter.
Select Filters>Map>Bump Map. For the Bump Map option, fill in the brick wall layer so that our graffiti writing follows the texture of the brick wall. Click OK. If the bump map effect is still lacking, repeat the application of the bump map filter. You can press Ctrl+F multiple times.
